Nothing breaks the haze of an Australian summer quite like press reports that Australia has a role – however small – in an international news story.
It now seems that Australian diplomats were the original source of stories about the Trump’s campaign and Russia’s access to Clinton emails. Australia hasn’t ranked so prominently in international commentary since Crocodile Dundee pulled out his knife.
Unfortunately, this is the diplomatic equivalent of impressing your friends with a too smart and cheeky response to a teacher, and then your mother finding out about the Saturday detention.
Those who once worked for Trump, and stumbled, have found that buses have been coming along regularly, and they have been thrown under each one.
💩 rains from the sky….
The United Kingdom 🇬🇧 once had a special relationship. Germany 🇩🇪 can’t get a handshake.
And Australia 🇦🇺 – the fate of yet another unreliable ally will be known soon?
