There has been a lot of commentary on the parlous state of Australian politics, and the incompetence of its politicians.
The theme of most opinion writers is that our Canberra campaigners have spent too much time as political apparatchiks – and not enough time in the real world.
But that is not right 🙄 ➡️
In reality, all the evidence is that our politicians come from a common background of organising the taxis at Sydney airport.
It is not just that they are used to working in a really badly designed system.
And wear a high vis jacket.
There is a right lane and a left lane. And they seem to constantly prefer one to the other.
There is no opportunity to opt out of the system – and there are constant warnings of the dangers of choosing a third way – although the evidence is in that more and more passengers are choosing Uber (on the far left) or limousines (on the far right).
And while they love having a queue – they can’t organise it.
And even when a taxi comes, there is still no hope of actually knowing where you are going.
One day, there will be no one in either the right lane, or the left lane. Everyone will be with Uber, or the limousines.
Just the politicians will remain – in charge of the system that doesn’t work.
